July 30, 2009
Today was a fun day with a professional photographer. We met with her at a local park and the girls played while she took her best shots. The following are a few of my favorites. It's fun being Grandma!

7/19/09 and 7/20/09
We enjoyed a nice dinner picnic at Swan Lake with my family. The girls played in the water and Kris, Chris and Norm & I spent time enjoying the weather and the food. It is a nice ride to the lake (about an hour) with pretty scenery. As usual, Chris ran into a few people that he knew. Who would think that Montana is such a small world? On the 20th we had good weather and did the Avalanche Lake hike again. It is pretty any time of the year but July lets you see the lush foliage as well as the waterfalls into the Lake. Another nice weekend and day off!

Our friends from Colorado, Lynn & Mark spent a few days at our kampground and we managed to spend one day trying to hike at Glacier Park. Unfortunately, it turned out to be so cold and wet that we just took the shuttle bus up and then back down without any more than a bathroom pit stop. We did enjoy a couple of dinners with them and also a new dice game "Farkle" where Lynn drank more wine than she is used to and giggled a bit! We were sorry to see them go, but we have chipmonk friends still here.

July was a busy month, Kampground wise as well as fun time. Our night shifts were late as there were so many Kampers and Kids to sell firewood, ice and ice cream to. It was all good. Norm became chief weed-wacker and lawn mower and spent a lot of time getting rid of tall grass. The breakfast crews were also busy (me on Friday and Saturday with Kaylyn, aka "Lucy"). We cracked and scrambled tons of eggs and Kaylyn is the new president of Egg Crackers Anonomous. We also found time to play disc golf at our Kampground after a few "shift" beers and at Smith Lake. That is a beautiful place with a very hard course. You really don't want your disc to roll down a hill as the hills are closer to Mountain than hill.

Houston's visit to Montana
My Aunt & Uncle and Cousins and 2nd cousins arrived at our KOA for a few days visit to Montana. Norm & I worked days while they were here, but we had a cook-out at Kris's house one night (Norm acting up again) and then time to take a Gondola/Ski lift ride on Saturday afternoon. After that, Houston's treated us to dinner at Applebee's which we all enjoyed. The views from the lift ride ("Big Mountain" resort) were very pretty. You can also see Glacier Park in the distance. One of the hikes I still want to take is on Big Mountain. I found out that you can also pick huckelberries there during the season. Another pretty spot in Montana.

One of the fun things I got to do with "My girls" was window shopping in Whitefish. It is a cute, little tourist town with lots of quaint shops and old buildings. We went to an art studio where you can do a number of crafts with the help of local artists. The girls painted ceramic figurines and Kris & I did glass fusion pendants. Lots of fun. I want to go again next year and make something else.
